Description
The Origin 8 rim has a 42mm profile and is perhaps the most popular in the fixie community, with stainless-steel spokes, sealed bearing hubs and double aluminium walls. This rim doesn’t have a machined braking wall. The braking wall is painted and compatible with mounting brakes.
It is a wider edged than the Weinmann rims with more aluminium to show off the colours. This makes is a little more aggressive and flashy. It has a flip-flop hub, with fixed-gear threading on one side and freewheel on the other.
Origin 8 rims stand out as excellent quality for money, making them the queens of fixed-gear bikes. The size is 700c, meaning it is compatible with all road-bike tyres. You can mount 23, 25 or 28 tyres and will need a 60mm-valve inner tube. And it is crucial you mount a rim strip between the tyre and the inner tube to reduce or prevent punctures.
